Types of Contact Lenses

Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses

These lenses are made from a firm breathable plastic. These lenses are great for patients who would like very crisp vision and are not able to wear soft contact lenses due to dryness or complex prescriptions.. They are resistant to protein and oil deposits. They are very customizable for patients with high amounts of prescription, presbyopia, and dry eyes. Patients often use one pair of lenses for an entire year before they need to be updated and adjusted.

Soft Lenses

Soft Contact Lenses are great for healthy eyes and first time wearers. Dr. Nguyen, our eye doctor, is able to calculate your prescription and determine what contact lenses will give you the best comfort and vision. Soft contact lenses come in a variety of types. There are kinds that are worn daily for one month, and there are kinds that are disposed daily. Both come in Spheres ( to correct Nearsightedness or Farsightedness), Torics (to correct Astigmatism), and Multifocals ( to correct Near and Far demands). Some brands we love are: Biofinity, Aquaclear, Air Optix, and Acuvue. Soft lenses are made from a softer, breathable plastic. Typically, these lenses are made to be disposed of monthly, bi-weekly, or daily. They are very easy to care for and very comfortable.

Bifocal Lenses

These lenses help patients who have difficulty seeing objects at both distance and near. They are available in RGP and soft lenses.

Special Order/Custom Made Lenses

These custom fits entail more time working with the doctor, but allows better vision for special cases. Patients with certain eye conditions like high astigmatism, Keratoconus or Corneal Transplants.  Dr. Nguyen has been very successful at fitting Scleral Contact Lenses and Soft Novakone lenses, giving patients comfortable clear vision that was thought to be once impossible.

NovaKone

These lenses are designed specifically for the keratoconic eye. It allows Pellucids, or who have had corneal transplants are not able to wear traditional RGP or soft contact lenses. EyeScript Vision Care is able to custom fit Scleral RGPs, soft NovaKone lenses, and Hybrid lenses to improve vision and comfort. of the patients’ eyes. Tears fill in the space in between the cornea and the lens like a traditional RGP, giving great vision. The way the contact lens fits on the eye allows better stability and comfort. better comfort, excellent vision, and advanced parameters to better neutralize irregular astigmatism with a soft lens. This is great for patients who are no longer able to wear or tolerate RGPs.

Hybrid Lenses

These lenses are a cross between a traditional RGP and a soft lens. The center of the contact lens is rigid, but it has a soft skirt made out of a soft contact lens. This allows both crisp vision of an RGP and comfort of a soft lens.
