Types of Contact Lenses
Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses
These lenses are made from a firm breathable plastic. These lenses are great for patients who would like very crisp vision and are not able to wear soft contact lenses due to dryness or complex prescriptions.. They are resistant to protein and oil deposits. They are very customizable for patients with high amounts of prescription, presbyopia, and dry eyes. Patients often use one pair of lenses for an entire year before they need to be updated and adjusted.
Soft Lenses
Soft Contact Lenses are great for healthy eyes and first time wearers. Dr. Nguyen, our eye doctor, is able to calculate your prescription and determine what contact lenses will give you the best comfort and vision. Soft contact lenses come in a variety of types. There are kinds that are worn daily for one month, and there are kinds that are disposed daily. Both come in Spheres ( to correct Nearsightedness or Farsightedness), Torics (to correct Astigmatism), and Multifocals ( to correct Near and Far demands). Some brands we love are: Biofinity, Aquaclear, Air Optix, and Acuvue. Soft lenses are made from a softer, breathable plastic. Typically, these lenses are made to be disposed of monthly, bi-weekly, or daily. They are very easy to care for and very comfortable.
