Contact Lenses

There are several ways to correct a patient’s vision, including a highly popular method of Contact Lenses or Contacts. Contact lenses are medical devices that are fitted to the surface of the eye with the patient’s prescription built into it, allowing clearer sharper vision. Many patients prefer this method for playing sports, better peripheral vision, better cosmetics. The history of contact lenses is quite extensive starting in 1895 where blown-glass contact lenses were experimented with. Today, contact lenses are made with highly breathable materials and coated to give patients exceptional healthy and comfortable lenses while providing clear vision. Science and technology have allowed the introduction of rigid gas permeable contact lenses, soft contact lenses, bifocal contact lenses, daily disposable lenses, and special fit lenses for certain eye conditions. Each kind of contact lens is made specifically to the patient’s anatomy and visual needs.  Advances in contact lens design and materials have made them a clear, comfortable option for many people requiring vision correction. Our office has extensive training and experience in fitting most popular styles of contact lenses,

After a thorough evaluation of how healthy your eyes are in relation to your contact lenses, the doctor assistant will teach/review proper lens care and insertion/removal of your lenses. Whether it is your first time wearing contact lenses or you’re a long time wearer, the health of your eyes is our main concern. Contact lens wear is very safe, however, even if worn properly, can lead to eye infections, dry eyes, and blurred vision. When worn improperly, chances of complications are increased. If your contact lenses are not as comfortable as they should be, your eyes are unusually red, or your vision is not as clear, be sure to visit your eye care physician as soon as possible. These are early indicators of infection or complications and may need treatment.
